Who are Reach Education & Wellbeing?

We are a local business based in South Leicestershire supporting children, families and professionals with a wide variety of education and wellbeing based solutions. I'm Victoria, the proud owner of the business.  Having worked in Education for the last 22 years and having been a musician for the last 38 years I am passionate about bringing the young people I teach and that others teach together to showcase their talents.  I have been working in several local schools since beginning my business 3 years ago and love the opportunity to begin children on their musical journeys by teaching piano, keyboard, trumpet and cornet.

What is The Young Musicians Summer Concert?

Having recently teamed up with local fellow musician, Richard, on a project (more on this soon) we began realising that there are very few opportunities available for our children and young people to share their skills.  Some of the young people we work with now have been learning their instruments for over a year and have never performed to an audience!  And trust me, I've had so many conversations with children where they are desperate to perform.  Our children are confident, amazing, brilliant, brave and fearless!  So the idea for The Young Musicians Summer Concert was formed.  An opportunity for local children to come together to create a wonderful afternoon of performance for their families and friends.  For many children this may be the first time they have performed in a 'proper theatre' too.  How exciting!  There will also be some guest appearances from local experienced musicians to provide aspiration and inspiration for our children.

What do I need to do to get my child involved?

Click on the link below, which will take you to the Google form to register your child to perform on the 30th June.  Complete the form and I will then make contact with you via email to discuss tickets and to find out more details about what piece your child would like to play at the concert.  We will also then request the £6 entry fee (which comes with a FREE adult ticket). Following this, it's practice, practice, pratice!  Support your child to get performance ready by encouraging them to feel really confident to play their piece in front of an audience.  Whether it's Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or a Mozart piano concerto, we can't wait to hear them play.

What will happen on the day?

Performers, get on those clothes that you feel most comfortable in (most of you who know me, know I live in jeans), and if you want to put on your best dress or shirt, go for it!  On the day the children will be asked to sit in the audience with their parent/guardian until it is their turn to play.  There will be a place to leave their instrument cases, and your child's instrument should stay with them at all times (unless they're a piano or keyboard player, ha ha).  There will be a programme showing the children the order of the performers in the concert.  There will be a piano, keyboard, extension cable and music stand provided.  Your child will be introduced, come down from the tiered seating to the stage ready to wow and amaze us with their performance of 1 piece.

What safeguarding measures do you have in place?

I am Designated Safeguarding lead and a qualified first aider.  Public liability insurance is in place.  A risk assessment has been completed for the event.  We recognise that parents may wish to record their child's performance or take photographs.  These will be allowed, but we ask that you do not film or take photographs of children other than your own.  Reach Education & Wellbeing will be taking photographs on the day and you will be asked to give your permission for these to be used (you can of course refuse).

Can I get extra tickets for the concert?

Of course!  We'd like the children to have lots of seats filled in the audience so please, bring your grannies, grandads, neighbours, friends, colleagues, parents, children, teachers...spread the word and share our social media posts too.  Additional tickets can be purchased at a cost of £4 per seat.

I'd like my child to take part but I can't afford to pay the entry fee?

Things are tough at the moment for many of us and we recognise how important it is for ALL children to be able to take part in opportunities such as this.  Money should not be a barrier to our children getting the opportunity to showcase their talents.  We are delighted that a number of local businesses and individuals have donated through our 'Sponsor a Star' and 'Sponsor a Seat' initiative.  This means that it will be possible for a number of families who are in financial difficulty to either have their child's entry fee paid for (Sponsor a Star) or for their friends/relative to have their seat paid for in the audience (Sponsor a Seat).  If you'd like to speak to us about sponsorship for your child or family, please contact victoria@reacheducationandwellbeing.co.uk

All requests will be dealt with in strictest confidence.
